A family journey




We are a couple from Poland, who at some point in life decided to move to the UK. Our older daughter was then two years old and she has now spent most of her life in England. Our younger daughter was born in Liverpool, but shortly after she was born we made a decision that surprised even ourselves: after five years spent in the UK, we moved back to Poland.

How is it to move countries when you have children, what are the challenges and why we think it’s still worth it. How is life in the UK (and more specifically in Liverpool) from a perspective of European expats - can you make this country your home? What do you gain as a family through such experience and how it enriches your children?

We’d like to share our story of these big journeys, as well as the smaller ones of our various family travels, through this blog with you. We're looking forward to sharing experiences and inspiring each other.

South Sardinia - Easter week 2024 itinerary

Dates: 25 March - 1 April 2024 Day 1 Arrival in Cagliari on a late flight.  For our late-March stay in Sardinia we chose an apartment in the city centre, pedestrian area, and it worked out very well as this part of the city felt very lively with lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. At the same time, the resort/beach areas around Cagliari seemed completely empty and shut down for off-season time. Day 2 Cagliari After a morning visit in the Civic Market of San Benedetto , where we stocked up on fresh vegetables, fruit and fish, we spent our first day wandering around the city. We started with climbing up the stairs of Bastion Saint Remy , for a spectacular view of the city. After that we headed to the medieval Castello district and the Cagliari Cathedral.  Built in 13th century and renovated later in a baroque style, it features a unique underground crypt Shrine of the Martyrs , with rich and very detailed baroque decorations. Vienna - winter city break 2023

St. Stephan Cathedral Our 3-day itinerary in Vienna in late November, including the Christmas markets. Dates: 24-27 November 2023 Group: 4 adults, 4 kids ages 4-12 Day 1 We arrived on a Friday afternoon and after checking in, headed straight to the St. Stephan Platz , for the first feel of the city. There is a Christmas market around the cathedral, with lots of local hand-crafted products, food and drinks. We visited the cathedral , enjoyed its Christmas illumination from the outside, and then took a walk via Graben , then main pedestrian street, also beautifully decorated for Christmas. We passed by the Spanish Riding School and, as a big part of our group are horse lovers, enjoyed a sneak at the horses standing in their stalls in the school’s back yard. We were interested in booking a training session to watch them in action, but unfortunately there were no sessions taking place during our stay (the calendar can be checked on their website).
